FSAA joins global supporter coalition calling for resignation of Gianni Infantino and fundamental FIFA reform

The Football Supporters Association Australia (Inc) is proud to stand alongside representative supporter bodies across every continent as a key signatory to an unprecedented global coalition demanding the immediate resignation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and structural governance reform of world football.

Football belongs to the people who fill the terraces, follow their clubs and national teams through triumphs and heartbreaks, travel across oceans, and pass the game down through generations. It does not belong to self-serving administrators or opaque international bureaucracies.

Today, continental and national supporter organisations representing hundreds of millions of fans worldwide have launched a joint campaign to restore democratic accountability, transparency, and ethical governance to the international body charged with protecting our game.

The secret attempt to sell off the World Cup to private financial entities through the collapsed "FIFA Forward Enterprise" exposed a profound failure of leadership at the highest level of global governance. Engineered in secret and hidden from member associations, players, and supporters, this proposal represented an absolute breach of institutional trust.

This failed venture was not an isolated incident. It was the culmination of a pattern of executive overreach under Gianni Infantino, including:

  • Clandestine involvement in the European Super League proposal.

  • Ill-conceived attempts to force a biennial World Cup cycle onto an already overloaded international calendar.

  • Extortionate ticketing structures for the 2026 FIFA World Cup that price genuine supporters out of attending.

  • A culture of personal power, intimidation, and zero institutional accountability.

The concentration of executive authority at FIFA has undermined democratic oversight, eroded public trust, and prioritised short-term commercial extraction over the long-term health of the global game.

The Two Core Demands

The international coalition of supporter organisations stands united around two non-negotiable requirements:

1. Gianni Infantino Must Resign

The Presidency of world football’s governing body is an office of public trust. That trust has been broken. Gianni Infantino has demonstrated a failure of democratic leadership that renders his position untenable. For the credibility of FIFA and the future of football, he must step down immediately.

2. Fundamental Structural Reform of FIFA

Replacing an individual is only the first step. The vulnerabilities that allowed these governance failures to occur must be systematically dismantled through binding reforms, guaranteeing:

Full Transparency: Complete public visibility over major administrative and financial decisions.

Binding Stakeholder Representation: Formal, structured involvement of supporters, players, leagues, and member associations in shaping the future of the sport.

Institutional Checks & Balances: Robust independent oversight mechanisms to curb executive overreach and prevent self-regulation failures.

Protected Revenue Allocation: Statutory guarantees ensuring football revenues are reinvested into grassroots, player development, and community infrastructure rather than diverted to external financial vehicles.

Stand With Us: Add Your Voice

The FSAA calls on all Australian football supporters, players, coaches, and local clubs to join this global movement. Australian football fans understand firsthand the importance of independent representation, transparent administration, and protecting the soul of our game.

Together, we must demonstrate that the collective voice of the global football community cannot be ignored.
