FSAA strengthens national voice with appointment of South Australian representative
The Football Supporters Association Australia (FSAA) is delighted to officially announce the return of Joe Aylward to the General Committee for 2026.
This appointment marks a significant step in ensuring our advocacy remains truly national. Following the 2025 Annual General Meeting, the General Committee identified a critical gap in representation for football supporters in South Australia.
Recognising that a national voice must speak for all corners of the country, the Committee unanimously endorsed a motion to seek a candidate capable of representing the unique perspectives of South Australian fans. We are thrilled that Joe Aylward has stepped forward to offer his services and fill this role.
Joe is no stranger to the FSAA, having previously served on the committee, before stepping away due to professional and personal commitments.
His return brings an immediate injection of advocacy experience and high-level governance skills. Joe has been a staunch Adelaide United member for over twenty years and currently serves as the Chair of the Adelaide United Fan Representative Group (FRG), placing him at the coalface of club-supporter relations.
Professionally, Joe brings a highly sought-after skillset to the table. As an Executive Manager of a nationally based Not-For-Profit specialising in justice reintegration and rehabilitation, his expertise in governance, strategy, and social impact aligns perfectly with the FSAA’s mission to hold power to account and advocate for the community.
The FSAA prides itself on the breadth of experience we bring to this work. We are not just fans; we are a professional body of dedicated volunteers.
With Joe’s appointment, our representation now spans six states and one territory. Our committee members combine diverse football experiences from around Australia and the world with a wide range of professional skillsets including law, finance, marketing, government relations, business, media and social justice.
This diversity is our strength. It ensures that when we sit down with governing bodies like the APL and Football Australia, we do so with a team capable of tackling complex issues from every angle.
We welcome Joe back to the fold and look forward to his valuable contributions as we prepare for a massive 2026.
